Job summary

OS BENEFiTS is seeking its first dedicated QA Engineer to own quality end to end on our healthcare benefits platform. You’ll drive test strategy, plans, and release sign-off, and act as gatekeeper for promotions from staging to production.

This fast-moving team expects hands-on testing, SQL validation, and automation to cover upcoming year releases like Individuals and Chase embedded payments. Remote-friendly role with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Hands-on QA experience on a product and engineering team.
• Comfortable with both manual and automated testing.
• Working SQL knowledge to query and validate data.
• Experience with feature flags and staged environments (dev, staging, production).
• Familiarity with branch-based release workflows and gating promotions to production.
• Able to ramp quickly and work independently with minimal oversight.
• Experience testing payments integrations is a plus.
• Background in HR, benefits, or insurance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own quality end to end, including test strategy, test planning, execution, and release sign-off.
• Act as the gatekeeper for staging to production promotions, keeping staging stable and promotable at all times.
• Test and validate end-of-year releases, starting with Individuals and Chase embedded payments.
• Run both manual and automated tests, and build out automated coverage where it’s missing.
• Write SQL queries to validate results directly in the database.
• Test features behind feature flags across our staged environments.
• Log, prioritize, and track bugs, working closely with engineering to resolve them before release.
• Set up QA processes and documentation for a team that hasn’t had a dedicated QA function before.
