Job summary

Burford Capital LLC in New York seeks a detail-oriented QA Engineer to support quality across data-driven financial applications. The role blends manual testing, test planning and automation, working with developers and business stakeholders to ensure reliable, production-ready software.

The successful candidate will leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate test design, automate coverage, and improve failure analysis, reporting results and risks to leadership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance or QA engineering.
• Experience using AI-assisted development or testing tools and validating generated tests.
• Ability to translate requirements into thoughtful test cases and design comprehensive test plans.

Responsibilities

• AI-assisted quality engineering: draft test scenarios and generate automation scaffolding; review output for correctness and relevance.
• API and data validation: test RESTful services, data pipelines and DB integrations; validate data across PostgreSQL, Snowflake, SQL Server.
• CI/CD integration: include automated tests in Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions and define quality gates for PRs and deployments.
• Defect management: log reproducible defects; work with engineers to isolate root causes and verify fixes.
• Test environments and data: create repeatable test data, fixtures, mocks and environment setups for parallel execution.
• Quality reporting: communicate test results and coverage gaps clearly and concisely.
• Shift-left collaboration: participate early in SDLC to ensure testable and observable applications.
