Job summary

Sledge is hiring a QA Engineer to ensure what ships actually works. You’ll join a small cross-functional team including an engineer, a designer, and a Product Owner to build Sledge Tester and shape its testing tooling.

You’ll perform manual and automated testing weekly, write Playwright tests, and partner with product and engineering to break things on purpose, improving quality with each release.

Qualifications

• Hands-on QA experience, manual and automated, on a real product.
• Experience with Playwright or similar browser automation; willing to master Playwright.
• Comfortable running smoke tests and regression tests in a normal release cycle.
• Experience with AI-assisted testing tools such as TestSprite.
• Experience in a small cross-functional team and in Scrum/Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Test new features and fixes before they ship, every week.
• Run manual testing, smoke testing, and regression testing across the product.
• Write and maintain automated tests using Playwright, including within Sledge Tester.
• Use tools like TestSprite alongside manual and automated testing.
• Turn tickets into test cases that cover important functionality.
• Work with engineering to reproduce, document, and track down bugs.
• Test AI features: edge cases, incorrect answers, or breakdowns.
• Maintain a clean regression suite to prevent re-run failures.
• Flag risk areas before releases and contribute to quality.

About the Role

Sledge is hiring a QA Engineer to make sure what ships actually works. Sledge ships weekly, across a fast-moving product with a real multi-agent AI system underneath it, which means bugs move fast too if nobody's catching them. This role reports to Sledge's engineering team and works closely with the Product Manager/Product Owner, engineering, and design to keep quality from becoming an afterthought.Sledge is building Sledge Tester, a Playwright-based testing tool, and this role will help shape and use it, not just file bugs into Jira and move on. You'll work in a small, cross-functional team alongside an engineer, a designer, and the Product Manager/Product Owner, not off to the side in a QA silo.

What you'll do

• Test new features and fixes before they ship, every week
• Run manual testing, smoke testing, and regression testing across the product
• Write and maintain automated tests using Playwright, including within Sledge Tester as it's built out
• Use tools like TestSprite alongside manual and automated testing to cover more ground
• Work with the Product Manager/Product Owner to turn tickets into test cases that actually cover what matters
• Work with engineering to reproduce, document, and track down bugs
• Test AI features specifically: where an agent gives a wrong answer, misses a step, or breaks under a weird input
• Keep a clean, reliable regression suite so nothing that used to work quietly breaks
• Flag risk areas before a release, not after
• Work in a small team with an engineer, a designer, and product to build something genuinely good, not just bug-free

What we're looking for

Must-haves

• Required: hands-on QA experience, manual and automated, on a real product
• Required: experience with Playwright, or a similar browser automation tool, and willingness to get fluent in Playwright specifically
• Comfortable running smoke tests and regression tests as part of a normal release cycle
• Comfortable using AI-assisted testing tools such as TestSprite alongside manual and automated testing
• Comfortable working in a small, cross-functional team with an engineer, a designer, and a Product Manager/Product Owner
• Comfortable working in a Scrum or Agile setup
• A sharp eye for edge cases and a habit of trying to break things on purpose
• Comfortable moving at startup speed, testing on a weekly release cadence

Nice-to-haves

• Experience testing AI or LLM-powered features specifically
• Experience with API testing, not just UI testing
• Experience with construction, trades, or B2B software
• Experience setting up a QA process from scratch, not just following one
