Job summary

Quadro Consulting, headquartered in Bonn, Germany, seeks an experienced QA Automation Engineer to own testing from requirements through automated execution and release verification. The role emphasizes building robust automated test suites for web applications, API testing, and database validation.

You will collaborate with developers, product stakeholders, and other QA engineers to improve test coverage, automation practices, and QA processes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance with hands-on test automation.
• Strong hands-on experience with at least one established UI automation framework (Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress).
• Hands-on programming/scripting in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or an equivalent language.
• Strong API testing experience using Postman or automated API tests.
• Good understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, and service integrations.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Bitbucket Pipelines).
• Knowledge of software testing methodologies and SDLC.
• Ability to diagnose failures and distinguish between automation issues and environment problems.
• Experience with Git and modern development workflows.
• English communication skills; comfortable collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and improve automated test suites for web applications.
• Create reliable end-to-end automated tests and translate requirements into test scenarios.
• Perform API testing and validate integrations between services.
• Query databases with SQL for test data preparation and troubleshooting.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and analyze failed runs.
• Conduct functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing when needed.
• Investigate defects using logs, API responses, and DB information.
• Identify edge cases and potential risks early in development.
• Document and track defects through resolution; support release validation.

We are looking for an experienced QA Automation Engineer who combines strong automation skills with a solid understanding of software quality throughout the development lifecycle.

This role is suited for someone who is comfortable working with complex applications, understands how different system components interact, and can take ownership of testing from requirements analysis through automated execution, defect investigation, and release verification.

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop, maintain, and improve automated test suites for web applications.
• Create reliable and maintainable end-to-end automated tests.
• Analyze requirements and acceptance criteria and translate them into effective test scenarios.
• Perform API testing and validate integrations between different services and system components.
• Perform database validation and use SQL for test data preparation and troubleshooting.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and analyze failed executions.
• Perform functional, regression, smoke, integration, and exploratory testing when required.
• Investigate defects using application logs, monitoring tools, API responses, and database information.
• Identify edge cases, potential risks, and unexpected system behavior early in the development lifecycle.
• Report, document, reproduce, and follow defects through resolution.
• Support release validation and post‑deployment verification.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product stakeholders, and other QA engineers to improve overall product quality.
• Continuously contribute to improving test coverage, automation practices, and QA processes.

What you bring

• 3+ years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance, with strong hands‑on experience in test automation.
• Solid experience with at least one established UI automation framework such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Hands‑on programming/scripting experience using Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or a comparable language.
• Strong experience with API testing, using tools such as Postman and/or automated API testing solutions.
• Good understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, request/response structures, and service integrations.
• Experience working with SQL and relational databases.
• Practical experience integrating or executing automated tests through CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Bitbucket Pipelines, or similar.
• Good understanding of software testing methodologies, test design techniques, and the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to independently investigate failed tests and distinguish between automation issues, environment problems, and application defects.
• Experience working with Git and modern development workflows.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

• Experience testing microservices‑based or distributed systems.
• Experience with Docker or containerized test environments.
• Experience with application monitoring and log‑analysis tools such as Grafana, Datadog, or similar.
