Alignerr is seeking a senior Python Software Engineer to design and optimize data pipelines, annotation tooling, and evaluation systems for AI workflows. This fully remote hourly contract offers 20–40 hours per week and the chance to impact how AI models are trained and improved.

You will build production-grade Python systems, scale tooling, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across AI research and engineering to deliver robust infrastructure for data annotation and evaluation.

Python Software Engineer — AI Workflows

About The Role

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and optimize high-performance Python systems supporting AI data pipelines and evaluation workflows
• Develop full-stack tooling and backend services for large-scale data annotation, validation, and quality control
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, edge cases, and reliability issues across existing codebases
• Improve performance, safety, and maintainability across Python infrastructure used in real AI production environments
• Collaborate with data, research, and engineering teams to support model training and evaluation workflows
• Participate in synchronous design reviews and iterate on system architecture and implementation decisions

Who You Are

• Native or fluent English speaker with clear written and verbal communication
• Full-stack developer with a strong systems programming background
• 3–5+ years of professional experience writing production-grade Python
• Disciplined about code quality — you naturally reach for linters, formatters, and comprehensive test coverage
• Experienced integrating AI services and third-party APIs, with solid instincts for error handling and edge case management
• Able to commit 20–40 hours per week with reliability and consistency

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation systems
• Familiarity with AI/ML workflows, model training, or benchmarking pipelines
• Experience with distributed systems or developer tooling
• Background working directly with AI research teams or labs
