Job summary

Jobtailor in Stamford, CT, is seeking an experienced engineer to design and continually improve our trading platform using Python. You will support new trade functionalities and establish FIX sessions, FTP setup, and encryption while ensuring high reliability by monitoring systems.

You will work with senior leaders, researchers, engineers, and business teams, leveraging automation and AI-driven solutions to optimize workflows in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or STEM-related field.
• 3+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the financial services industry.
• Strong proficiency in Linux systems.
• Strong proficiency with Python.
• Excellent communication skills and enjoy interfacing with clients, both internal and external.
• Excited to work independently in a very fast-paced, high pressure environment.
• Understand Market Data/Order Entry systems and an interest in how modern electronic markets work.

Responsibilities

• Design and drive the continual improvement of the trading platform using Python.
• Support implementation of new trade functionality, such as new asset classes or new prime brokers.
• Establish FIX sessions, file encryption, and FTP setup.
• Monitor trading systems and infrastructure components to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Proactively identify and resolve potential issues to minimize downtime and optimize system efficiency.
• Leverage automation tools, including AI-based solutions, to improve accounting or operational workflows.
• Respond promptly to system alerts and incidents.
• Investigate root causes and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, quantitative researchers, engineers, and the business team to support initiatives.
