Qualifications

• 7+ лет бэкенд-разработки, преимущественно Python, FastAPI или аналог, Celery или аналогичная очередь задач, PostgreSQL, настройка производительности
• Опыт проектирования системы с нуля и эксплуатации в AWS, Docker, Terraform (или аналог), CI/CD
• Опыт работы с финансовыми или транзакционными данными: Ledger, расчёты, даты, которые имеют значение
• Ежедневное использование AI-инструментов для кодирования и умение понимать их слабые стороны
• Связь на английском языке: устно и письменно; регулярные встречи с клиентом

Responsibilities

• Раз design ядра: регистр политики с эффективными изменениями, endorsements, cancellations и renewals; аудит изменений
• Создать настраиваемый рейтинг-двигатель; настройка правил через конфигурацию, изменения кода не требуются
• Разработать фоновую работу с Celery: расписания выставления счетов, пакетные обновления, уведомления, конвейер событий
• Подключение платформы к ~20 внешним поставщикам через единую интеграционную прослойку
• Миграция данных по полисам, биллингу и искам без потери данных
• Устанавливать стандарты, проверять код, решать блокеры команды

Описание:

We're building a new insurance platform for a US specialty insurer, to replace the legacy system that runs their whole business today. It covers quoting, rating, policies, billing, claims, agency management and the vendor integrations around them. The first program goes live on the new platform in early 2027, and the existing book moves over a few months later. You'll lead the backend. The design and data model are still open, so you'll shape them, then build most of it alongside a small team. The work is LLM-assisted and moves fast, and you'll demo it to the client every few weeks.

• Design the core: a policy ledger with effective-dated changes, endorsements, cancellations and renewals, plus an audit trail that records every change
• Build a configurable rating engine. Underwriters change rates and rules through configuration instead of code changes
• Build background work with Celery: billing schedules, renewal batches, notices, and an event pipeline that stays reliable under load
• Connect the platform to around 20 outside vendors (payments, property data, e-signature, print and mail) behind one integration layer
• Migrate years of policy, billing and claims data out of the old system without losing a cent
• Set the standards, review the code, and keep the team unblocked

• 7+ years of backend engineering, most of it in Python Production FastAPI (or a similar framework), Celery or another task queue, and PostgreSQL you've tuned and modeled yourself
• You've designed a system from scratch and owned it in production AWS in production, with Docker, Terraform (or similar) and CI/CD you set up
• Experience with financial or transactional data: ledgers, money, dates that matter
• You use AI coding tools every day and know where they go wrong
• Clear spoken and written English. You'll talk to the client most weeks
• I'd rather ask a clear question than guess at a requirement
• You can explain a design to engineers and to non-technical stakeholders
• You make the engineers around you better
