Job description

Location: 100% Remote

Years’ Experience: 5+ years of professional experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field is preferred

Clearance: Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required.

Key Skills:

• Experience with Python packages such as NumPy, Pandas, Anaconda, Jupyter Notebook, and VS Code
• Experience with SAS software including Base SAS, SAS Macro Language, and SAS ODS
• Experience with PostgreSQL databases and tools like pgAdmin, PL/pgSQL
• Experience with version control systems such as Git, GitLab, or GitHub
• Proficiency with Linux command line and tools
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams

Responsibilities:

1. Implement Python solutions efficiently, leveraging the language’s strengths
2. Analyze existing SAS systems to develop optimized Python-based solutions
3. Write high-quality, well-documented, and maintainable code
4. Use Python to process and reformat large datasets
5. Enhance Python code performance
6. Familiarity with SAS code and database design principles is preferred
7. Participate in meetings and share technical knowledge
8. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements
9. Make recommendations for system improvements and troubleshoot issues
10. Develop proof-of-concept and pilot solutions
11. Maintain thorough documentation and participate in code reviews
12. Provide status reports and work with IT staff for system maintenance
13. Train designated staff on system functionalities
14. Possess knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or GitHub
15. Communicate regularly with team members
16. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred)
• Ability to pass security background investigation
• 5-7+ years of experience in backend/frontend development and data engineering
• Experience with Python for large data files, code optimization, and documentation
• Proficiency with Linux commands and data validation in statistical environments
• Experience with cloud computing (AWS) and SAS programming is a plus
