Job summary

Inherent Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Python Developer to join our Washington, DC onsite team. The role focuses on building secure, scalable backend services using Python, PostgreSQL, and Azure, with strong API design via FastAPI.

You will contribute to automated testing, CI/CD, and production support, collaborating with product owners and DevOps in an Agile setting across time zones.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of professional Python development experience delivering secure, scalable, and production-quality backend applications or calculation services.
• Strong proficiency in modern Python, object-oriented design, modular architecture, reusable libraries, type validation, and coding standards such as PEP 8.
• Hands-on experience developing REST APIs using FastAPI or an approved equivalent framework, including request validation, API versioning, authentication, structured error responses, and OpenAPI documentation.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL, including data modelling, queries, functions, indexing, transaction management, and performance optimization.
• Proven ability to identify opportunities for engineering automation using AI, Generative AI, scripting, and developer tooling to improve code quality and team productivity.
• Experience with Pydantic, PyTest, importlib, caching, configuration management, and development of reusable Python utilities and packages.
• Experience translating complex formulas or business rules into deterministic, testable software components.
• Experience designing automated unit, integration, regression, and API tests with disciplined defect analysis.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure services, App Service or containers, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, secrets management, logging, and monitoring.
• Strong understanding of secure software development, data protection, auditability, resilience, performance, and production support practices.
• Working knowledge of building science or sustainability considerations is a plus.
• Ability to collaborate with product owners, architects, QA, UX, DevOps, and stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills in Agile and multicultural teams across time zones.

Responsibilities
