Job description

Our client is looking to hire a remote Python Developer.

This is a fully remote, full-time, contract position.

Hourly range based on experience: $60-$80 / HR

Position Overview: Detail-oriented Python Developer with an understanding of finite element analysis (FEA), some physics, and linear algebra. FEA involves modeling real-world scenarios with real-life data in a virtual environment using computer-aided engineering (CAE) processes. This role is key to developing and optimizing custom engineering solutions related to heavy lifting, rigging, and crane operations. The ideal candidate will combine Python expertise with a basic understanding of C.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and optimize Python applications for simulating and analyzing heavy lifting and crane operations.
  2. Apply finite element methods to model, simulate, and solve structural problems related to crane design, rigging, and load analysis.
  3. Collaborate with engineers and physicists to integrate physical and engineering principles into computational tools for better simulation accuracy.
  4. Automate repetitive engineering calculations using Python to improve efficiency in designing and testing crane structures and lifting procedures.
  5. Analyze and simulate stress, strain, and deformation on lifting equipment, crane components, and rigging materials using FEA techniques.
  6. Work with large datasets for load testing, failure analysis, and performance simulations.
  7. Develop custom algorithms to solve algebraic and physical problems related to mechanical loads and structural integrity.
  8. Create reports on simulation results to provide engineers and decision-makers with actionable insights.
  9. Ensure all software and models comply with industry safety and efficiency standards.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Data Science, Data, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with Python experience.
  2. Proficient in Python with 3+ years of experience in scientific and engineering applications.
  3. Strong understanding of FEA, including modeling and interpreting simulation results.
  4. Solid background in mechanics, material science, and structural analysis applied to real-world engineering problems.
  5. Experience with numerical methods, algebraic modeling, and applying engineering physics to solve complex problems.
  6. Knowledge of mechanical load analysis, stress testing, deformation calculations, and vibration analysis is a plus.
  7. Ability to interpret and simulate crane and lifting system behaviors under various conditions.
  8. Experience with data analysis and visualization libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, or Pandas.
  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in mechanical systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) for design and analysis.
  2. Knowledge of safety standards like OSHA and ASME in crane operations and heavy lifting.
  3. Experience developing engineering software tools for internal use.
  4. Familiarity with cloud computing or high-performance computing environments for large-scale simulations.
  5. Strong teamwork and communication skills for effective collaboration.
  6. Attention to detail to ensure precise calculations and models.
  7. Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex software applications.
  8. Proactive problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions for mechanical and structural challenges.

Additional Requirements: Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
