Job summary

Siemens' Autonomous Control and Operations team in Princeton, NJ offers a 3–6 month internship to help build a new Energy Flexibility Platform. You will develop REST APIs in Python, work with FastAPI and SQLAlchemy, and ship code to real customers while learning end-to-end software engineering in a cloud-first environment.

You will collaborate with software engineers, power systems experts, and energy market specialists, gaining exposure to CI/CD in AWS, containerization, and OpenAPI

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's student enrolled in CS/SE/EE or related program.
• Strong Python fundamentals with type hints and exception handling.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP status codes, and OpenAPI specs.
• Hands-on with Git, unit testing, and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain REST API endpoints for a cloud-based energy platform.
• Integrate with third-party REST APIs, including auth, retries, and errors.
• Write and expand automated unit and integration tests to improve coverage.
• Keep OpenAPI specifications and docs in sync with implementation.
• Assist with database schema changes and migrations under senior guidance.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions.
