Job summary

Next Ventures seeks a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, build, deploy, and operate cloud-native applications and APIs using Python and AWS. The role combines hands-on software engineering with cloud architecture, automation, and production support.

You will lead architectural discussions, contribute to engineering standards, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with trading and data teams on impactful energy tech platforms.

Qualifications

Senior-level experience designing and operating cloud-native apps.
Strong Python development and AWS expertise.
Experience with APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.

Responsibilities

Design, build, deploy, and operate cloud-native apps, APIs, and microservices.
Develop primarily in Python to process and expose market data.
Design scalable solutions using AWS serverless, ECS/EKS, and event-driven architectures.
Implement IaC with Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
Maintain observability, monitoring, security, and production support.
Lead architectural reviews and mentor junior engineers.
Collaborate with traders, data teams, and infrastructure teams; support Azure integrations.
