Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, part of RTX, seeks a Program Fleet Chief for the PW4000 Program Management team. You will belong to the IPMT with accountability to fleet-wide health, addressing safety and technical concerns, and coordinating with customers and regulators.

You will lead cross-functional efforts with Engineering, Tech Pubs, and Customer Support to ensure clear communications, manage fleet events, and drive timely resolutions across the program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience; or Advanced Degree and 7 years of experience.
  • Engineering, operations, program management and project management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the reliability and dependability of the overall engine program.
  • Engage in customer facing activities along with a project management role with Engineering and field offices.
  • Run the FAA FAR 21.3 process, track and close reportable events with FAA.
  • Identify root causes with customers and engineering to address safety or airworthiness issues.
  • Monitor fleet metrics to rank engine removal and delay drivers and inform engineering and communications.
  • Raise awareness of emerging issues internally and externally.
  • Provide customers timely, accurate communications and presentations on technical issues.
  • Prepare briefings for airline operators and interface with airframers on fleet events and communications.
  • Collaborate with Customer Technical Service, Engineering, and Tech Pubs to clarify customer communications.
  • Work with cross-functional team to assess fleet impact for shop visits and spare parts.

The PW4000 Program Management team is seeking a Program Fleet Chief. This rare and unique opportunity will utilize your positive relationship building, excellent technical skills and demonstrated leadership. The fleet chief is a member of the integrated program management team (IPMT) with responsibility to the fleet-wide customer health point-of-view, especially as it relates to response and resolution of issues of product safety, reliability, dependability and technical concern. Successful fleet chiefs demonstrate strong technical problem solving and decision-making ability, coupled with outstanding communication and teamwork skills and an ability to interact with all levels of the organization including customers and external regulatory bodies if needed.

What You Will Do
  • Responsible for maintaining the reliability and dependability of the overall engine program.
  • This role has both customer facing activities along with a meaningful project management role with Engineering, through both direct customer meetings and working with our field offices supporting the customers.
  • Run the FAA FAR 21.3 process, tracking and aiming to closure reportable events in collaboration with the FAA.
  • Work with customers and engineering to identify root cause on issues and rapidly address safety or airworthiness issues through fleet management actions.
  • Monitor and analyze fleet metrics to rank key engine removal and delay/cancellation drivers to identify and prioritize required engineering and communications activities.
  • Raise awareness on emerging issues internally and externally.
  • Provide customers timely and accurate communications and presentations on technical issues impacting their operations.
  • Prepare and deliver briefings to the airline operators, as well as interfacing with the airframers on fleet events, investigations, and communications.
  • Partner with Customer Technical Service, Engineering, and Tech Pubs to ensure visibility and clarity of all customer communications – Service Bulletins, Part technical investigation reports, All Operator Communications and technical customer responses.
  • Work with the cross-functional team to assess potential impacts to the fleet for shop visit forecast and spare parts requirements.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience; Or Advanced Degree and 7 years of experience to include the following:
  • Engineering, operations, program management and project management experience.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Familiarity and experience with commercial aviation safety management system processes.
  • Working knowledge of engine product technical information and safety processes relating to engine and aircraft function and technical issue resolution.
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies should include: Strategic Leadership; Focus on Results; Teamwork; Communication and Listening Skills.
  • Excellent technical problem-solving skills: proactive and solution oriented Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills for audiences at all levels of P&W and customers
  • Ability to rapidly assimilate information to produce strategies and outcomes that achieve program objectives
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned projects/initiatives and independently drive for results
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
