Job summary

City of Waynesboro Public Works seeks a Public Works Analyst II (GIS) to perform GIS analytical work supporting multiple functions. The role maintains GIS layers, updates databases, and builds analytical products for maintenance, engineering and stormwater teams.

The position is primarily office-based with routine field duties, including GPS-ing water meters and supporting asset management systems. Strong GIS experience and a valid VA driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• A GIS focused Associate Degree (or significant GIS experience) is required.
• Possession of a valid Virginia driver’s license is required.
• Ability to lift 50lbs and carry 30lbs for long periods across uneven terrain is required.
• Experience with utilities, construction, or engineering is preferred.
• Experience with asset management systems and software management is preferred.

Responsibilities

Duties will include maintaining GIS layers, updating GIS databases as new facilities are built in the City, updating public facing GIS maps, supporting utility crew work, and developing analytical products to support maintenance, engineering, and stormwater operations. Conduct field work to GPS existing items (e.g., water meters) to be added into GIS. Serve as a back-up administrator for the department’s asset management system.

The position will primarily be office based, but routine field work in all weather conditions will be required.
