Job summary

Dallas County is seeking a GIS Analyst to perform spatial analysis and generate maps and reports. You will gather requirements, assist with GIS applications and interactive maps, deploy GIS solutions, and train staff.

You will design, administer and maintain spatial databases, configure GIS software, conduct data collection and cartography, and work with SQL databases. Strong communication, writing skills and ability to collaborate with staff are essential.

Qualifications

• Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical field of study.
• Skilled in the use of Esri ArcGIS suite of desktop, server and SAS software and systems.
• Sound knowledge of spatial analysis methodologies.
• Experience with standard software applications including GIS, office productivity, database, graphics and presentation software.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.

• Maintains inventory of necessary expendable supplies to ensure functioning of GIS components.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Maintains inventory of necessary expendable supplies to ensure functioning of GIS components. Performs minor maintenance on plotters and large format scanners.

Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Skilled in the use of Esri ArcGIS suite of desktop, server and SAS software and systems. Sound knowledge of spatial analysis methodologies. Experience and facility with standard software applications, including GIS, office productivity, database, utility, graphics and presentation software. Basic familiarity with software development and technology implementation practices. Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public.
