Job summary

Ford is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering professional to join the Dearborn Truck Plant quality team. You will lead electrical/electronic hardware quality initiatives on the F-150 line, coordinating with software and plant partners to drive end-to-end quality across modules.

You will drive interim containment and permanent corrective actions, analyze warranty data, and document improvements in SIMPSN/QAI systems, while supporting plant trials and launch activities with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; STEM field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support launch activities and participate in daily/biweekly quality governance meetings.
• Assist with vehicle triage using DET and Ford Diagnosis and Repair System.

In this position...

The EE&S FH PVT Engineer position is located at Dearborn Truck Plant and is responsible for FH Electrical/Electronic Hardware quality on the F-150 (P702) vehicle line. At a high level, this role leads quality improvements on EE&S-owned systems, including hardware for the following components: body control module, door module, driver seat module, trailer module, headlamp control module, lighting control module, restraint control module, tailgate module, keys, horn, displays, clusters, radio, amps, and speakers - associated with VFGs V20 Electrical Accessories Function Hardware, V81 Audio and Cluster Hardware, V84 In House Module Hardware, and V43 Check Engine Light Hardware.

What you'll do...

• You'll work in close partnership with the software PVT Engineer covering these same modules, as well as with counterparts at Kansas City Assembly Plant (KCAP), to ensure end-to-end hardware and software quality across these systems.
• Prioritize and drive interim containment actions (ICA) and permanent corrective actions (PCA) to address customer quality concerns from various sources (i.e., Warranty, Executive Escalations and Technical Hotline).
• Take a central role in resolving customer issues and reducing warranty.
• Take ownership of customer critical issues and ensure resolution is achieved.
• Perform warranty claims analysis (i.e., reading claims, contacting dealerships/utilizing connected vehicle data for further technical claim details, confirming parts return/analysis).
• Bin claims into proper categories and track improvement actions through the Quality AI IRIS/SIMPSN system.
• Develop, manage, and own SIMPSN projects to track and document quality improvement actions to deliver Vehicle Line objectives.
• Communicate any help needed to contain issues through the vehicle functional group (VFG) quality quarterbacks and functional quality reviews (FQR).
• Utilize external and internal quality data to develop ICA/PCA actions for in-plant quality concerns and external warranty claims.
• Support the Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for FH sub-systems and work closely with STA (Supplier Technical Assistance) engineers and suppliers to address supplier quality concerns.
• Identify and deliver current model design projects with support from core and VFG leaders.
• Initiate/support Worldwide Engineering Release System (WERS) Concerns (CR) and alerts for design changes and plant trials.
• Maintain clear communication on daily work/activities with direct supervisor and peers, balancing daily and weekly demands.
• Work collaboratively with VRT counterparts at sister plant Kansas City Assembly Plant for common issue identification and containment.
• Lead plant trials for quality, cost, and supplier improvements.
• Support resolution of stop ships/builds, campaigns, quality issues, ergonomic issues, and first-time-through (FTT) issues.
• Support daily binning meetings, daily plant quality meetings, biweekly VRT report-outs, and monthly Vehicle Quality Reviews.
• Support launch activities on major and minor programs.
• Utilize the Diagnostic Engineering Tool (DET) and Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) to assist with vehicle triage.
