Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI is seeking a diligent Manufacturing Engineer to support electrical subsystems for the F-150 program. You will lead model development, tool design, and assembly tooling, driving quality, cost and productivity improvements across US, Canada and Mexico plants.

You bring 3+ years in automotive manufacturing engineering with CAD expertise and tooling experience, and are prepared to extended travel to KC through 2028. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • 3+ years automotive manufacturing engineering experience.
  • 3+ years tooling, processes and facilities experience.
  • 3+ years CAD experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program through Ok to Buy + 45 days.
  • Implementation of new/modified tooling and facilities based on product and process changes.
  • Lead manufacturing assembly builds (DCV, TT, PP, MP1 and MP2) in Canada, Mexico & US assembly plants.
  • Identify and drive resolution of manufacturing related issues.
  • Collaborate with multi‑functional (PD, STA, MP&L, NMP, MTDC, etc.) activities.
  • Write/modify/maintain process sheets as required post Final Design Judgement.
  • Write tooling design/build/installation scopes of work.
  • Lead assembly tooling installation, start‑up, and commissioning at the assembly site. In addition, support tooling buy‑off @ vendor facility.
  • Drive quality, cost, and labor improvements
  • Develop plant layouts and drive Cycle Line Layouts.
  • Lead/Manage key areas of VME for the upfront feasibility process for programs between TMR and PSC phases of GPDS
  • Prepare and lead management presentations through Ok to Buy.
  • Support coordination of Program Cost Study responses and work with cross‑functional teams within the organization to ensure aligned results
  • Support resolution of Major Architecture and High Investment Plant High Hurts to help mitigate Launch risks in Forward Model Development
  • Document and present Lessons Learned to core to either create or update Mfg. standards
  • Extended travel to our Kansas City Assembly Plant thru 2028.

In this position...

We’re seeking a diligent, detail‑driven professional to provide vital expertise in support of our manufacturing process engineering activities, specifically within electrical subsystems that go into our F‑150 model. We’re looking to optimize our efforts in safety, quality, and productivity. This involves applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to advance continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and products.

What you’ll do...

You’ll have...
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical)
  • 3+ years' Automotive Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • 3+ years' experience w/tooling, processes, and facilities
  • 3+ years' CAD experience
Even better, you may have...
  • Solid understanding of vehicle electrical subsystems (modules, connectors, harnesses, testing, etc)
  • Solid understanding of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.)
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following Ford software systems: AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, AIM, CPARS
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Interior, Exterior, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Water test, End of Line
  • Error proofing experience
  • Demonstrated product launch experience and issue resolution capability
  • Ability to work well with cross‑functional teams to develop consensus
  • Proven experience in manufacturing, including CAD design and tooling design
  • Previous project management experience
  • Prototype design and development experience
  • Experience working with Tier 1OEM Suppliers and partners
  • Manufacturing experience in general or final assembly
Extended travel to Kansas City thru 2028 is required

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
