Job summary

Redmont Talent Partners is seeking a Purchasing Specialist in Birmingham to support a metal supplier. You will compile material requests, issue purchase orders, track orders, and coordinate deliveries to meet schedules.

Ideal candidates have up to 5 years of experience, a high school diploma (bachelor's preferred), and strong communication, analytical, and MS Office skills to ensure compliance and efficiency in purchasing activities.

Qualifications

• 0-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education/experience.
• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Understanding of basic concepts and principles pertinent to purchasing operations.
• Knowledge of purchasing practices, methods and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Compiles requests for materials and prepares purchase orders.
• Tracks purchase requests using appropriate tracking mechanism(s).
• Responds to inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.
• Gathers information and records to draw up purchase orders for procurement of materials and services.
• Coordinates and assists with scheduling of deliveries to ensure on-schedule arrivals.
• Gathers prices, specifications, and delivery dates to aid bid determination.
• Tracks status of requisitions, contracts, and orders; calculates costs.
• Maintains compliance with company policies and purchasing procedures.
• Enter shop orders; research sales records and inventory levels.
• Assists with training and organizational safety processes.
