Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years of related experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills required.
  • Proficiency with inventory planning tools and MS Office.
  • Ability to work in a team and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates purchase orders for materials, services, and tools.
  • Coordinates with Design and Manufacturing Engineering for timely sourcing.
  • Negotiates pricing and terms with suppliers.
  • Assesses supplier capabilities and conducts supplier visits.
  • Monitors supplier performance and coordinates cost savings initiatives.
  • Supports projects and continuous improvement processes.
  • Executes special tasks as assigned.
  • Maintains alignment with production schedules and quality standards.

PURCHASING SPECIALIST
OVERALL SUMMARY

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for the procurement of goods and services to meet the company’s operational needs, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. This role includes sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing inventory levels to align with production schedules and company requirements. The Purchasing Specialist works closely with cross-functional teams such as Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, and Production Control to ensure efficient supply chain operations and support organizational goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Initiates purchase orders for materials, services, and special tools.
  • Maintains close coordination with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
  • Secures and analyzes quotations and negotiates pricing and terms with suppliers.
  • Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities.
  • Follow department processes to monitor and develop suppliers.
  • Visits current and potential suppliers’ facilities to qualify them as sources.
  • Participates in projects and continuous improvement processes.
  • Executes cost savings initiatives to meet annual cost savings goals.
  • Complete special projects, assignments, and other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or related field preferred
  • 2-4 years of related experience preferred.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent presentation, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Superior analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to comprehend and use advanced inventory planning tools.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to meet timelines and prioritize work requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Individuals must be able to meet these physical requirements or be able to demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Typical office working conditions. Occasionally exposed to heat/cold, dust, noise, and welding fumes when working in plant.
