Job summary

Kelly Services is hiring a Buyer / Purchasing Specialist to join a leading eyewear manufacturer in Garland, TX. This 6-month contract offers a daytime schedule and potential extension or permanent conversion.

You will prepare POs, maintain vendor data in ERP systems (Solomon, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP), negotiate rates, track shipments, and optimize inventory and reorder points. Onsite warehouse work requires attention to detail and physical capability.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or inventory control experience.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with ERP/purchasing software and MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit purchase orders based on inventory needs and lead times.
• Maintain facility inventory levels and vendor data in ERP systems.
• Negotiate rates and identify alternative sourcing options.
• Track shipments and ensure on-time deliveries, following up on past-due orders.
• Coordinate day-to-day purchasing activities and inventory audits.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by optimizing reorder points and quantities.

Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation: $27.00 per hour

What's a typical day as a Buyer / Purchasing Specialist? You'll be:

• Preparing and submitting purchase orders (POs) based on inventory needs, lead times, and backorders to drive timely fulfillment
• Maintaining accurate facility inventory levels and vendor data (costs, sources, lead times, codes) in ERP systems (Solomon, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP)
• Managing vendor relationships, negotiating rates, and identifying alternative sourcing options
• Tracking inbound and outbound shipments, monitoring on-time deliveries, and proactively following up on past-due shipments
• Coordinating day-to-day purchasing activities, including stockout prevention, usage tools, invoicing, debit memos, product returns, and inventory audits
• Participating in continuous improvement by developing usage review tools and optimizing reorder points and order quantities

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

• Have 2–3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or inventory control
• Hold a High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Bring strong working knowledge of purchasing and inventory best practices
• Have experience with ERP/purchasing software such as Microsoft Dynamics, Solomon, or SAP
• Are proficient with MS Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel
• Possess strong attention to detail, analytical abilities, negotiation skills, and organizational capabilities
• Are comfortable working 100% onsite in a warehouse/manufacturing setting and able to lift up to 40 lbs as needed
