Job summary

Ferrara Fire Apparatus is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead the local Purchasing department and collaborate with the VP/GM to optimize sourcing, supplier performance, and cost reduction across the business unit.

The role requires strong negotiation, ERP/MRP familiarity, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a discrete manufacturing environment. Located in Holden, LA, the position focuses on supply chain excellence and risk mitigation with cross‑functional leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Logistics, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of management experience in a discrete manufacturing environment
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in purchasing and procurement.
• CPP (Certified Procurement Professional) or APICS CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own total supplier performance, driving results that meet business objectives in cost reduction, working capital, delivery, quality, and technology collaboration.
• Establish goals and development plans for buyers that align with top‑down business objectives, providing regular feedback.
• Drive material cost reduction activities (E‑RFx, e‑auction, digital sourcing) that support gross margin requirements.
• Establish KPI's and own supplier performance improvement as measured through those KPI's.
• Participate in SIOP process to ensure 12+ months visibility to requirements and supplier forecasts.
• Provide coaching/mentoring to buyers and challenge the norm for optimal results.
• Drive continuous improvement of systems, processes, and tools to meet objectives.
• Negotiate supplier contracts to deliver supply security and value.
