Job summary

The Toledo Zoo and Aquarium in Toledo, OH, is seeking a full-time Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities across departments. This role negotiates prices, obtains competitive quotes, and builds vendor relationships while ensuring accurate inventory control and timely reports. You will report to the Director of Food Service Operations and support our mission: Enjoy. Inspire.

Qualifications

• 5 years of hands-on experience as a buyer, purchasing agent, or procurement specialist preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent with warehousing, stocking, inventory control, shipping/receiving experience.
• Certification in Food Service sanitation required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace.

Responsibilities

• Obtain competitive quotes, negotiate prices and terms, and make vendor recommendations for supplies, equipment, and services.
• Maintain inventory control of stock items to meet requisition needs in all departments.
• Prepare and process required reports and records.

The Toledo Zoo is currently seeking a full-time Purchasing Manager.The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking, organized individual interested in working in a high volume and fast-paced environment while supporting our mission to: Enjoy. Inspire. Educate. Act!

Under general supervision, the Purchasing Manager obtains competitive quotes, negotiates prices and terms, and makes vendor recommendations for supplies, equipment, and services. They are responsible for maintaining inventory control of stock items to meet the Zoo's requisition needs in all departments. In addition, this position prepares and processes required reports and records.

The Purchasing Manager reports to the Director of Food Service Operations. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and requires time worked in excess of forty hours per week.

Minimum Training and Experience

• 5 years of hands-on experience as a buyer, purchasing agent, or procurement specialist preferred.
• High school diploma previous experience in warehousing, stocking, inventory control, shipping and receiving, and other related areas, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
• Must possess the required certification in Food Service sanitation.
• Must have a valid drivers' license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
• Must be at least 21+ years of age.
• The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.
