Job summary

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in Purchasing, Materials Management, or Supply Chain.
  • Strong expertise in MRP II systems and manufacturing planning.
  • Supplier negotiation and supplier performance management experience.
  • Inventory management, forecasting, and material planning experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead purchasing activities for direct, indirect, and MRO procurement.
  • Manage supplier relationships, pricing, delivery performance, quality, lead times, and contracts.
  • Drive supplier performance improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Utilize MRP II systems for forecasting, material planning, and inventory management.
  • Ensure material availability supports production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Oversee inventory control, cycle counting, and inventory accuracy programs.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, JIT, and KANBAN replenishment systems.
  • Monitor purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance KPIs.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of purchasing and materials professionals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Finance, and Customer Service teams.

Are you an experienced supply chain leader with a strong manufacturing background? Join a leading manufacturer of vehicle chassis systems serving the commercial vehicle industry and play a key role in driving purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance excellence.

About the Role:

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Purchasing Manager will lead purchasing, materials planning, inventory management, and supplier performance activities. This position oversees a team of 5 direct reports and is critical to ensuring smooth production operations and supply chain success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead purchasing activities for direct materials, indirect materials, and MRO procurement.
  • Manage supplier relationships, pricing, delivery performance, quality, lead times, and contract negotiations.
  • Drive supplier performance improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Utilize MRP II systems for forecasting, material planning, and inventory management.
  • Ensure material availability supports production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Oversee inventory control, cycle counting, and inventory accuracy programs.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, JIT, and KANBAN replenishment systems.

  • Experience with vehicle chassis systems, suspension systems, axle systems, or structural components
  • Casting and forging manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, JIT, and KANBAN environments
