Job summary

Classic Packaging Company, Pfafftown, NC, is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to support the Purchasing Manager in inventory management, allocation, and procurement of all materials used in flexographic packaging. You will need strong communication, data analysis, and organizational skills to manage supplier information and market research.

The role requires 1–3 years in purchasing or supply chain, familiarity with packaging materials, and the ability to work in a team.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher in Supply Chain Management or related field.
• 1-3 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience.
• Familiar with flexible packaging material.
• Knowledge of packaging industry terminology.
• Experience with vendor management or supplier scorecards.
• Understanding of import/export or international sourcing basics.

Responsibilities

• Process purchase orders for raw materials based on production and inventory needs.
• Coordinate with production planning, warehouse, and quality teams to align material availability with manufacturing schedules.
• Maintain and update purchasing records, pricing databases, and supplier contact information.
• Support supplier evaluation and onboarding, including documentation and compliance checks.
• Maintain organized files for contracts, purchase agreements, and vendor certificates.
• Assist buyers/purchasing manager with market research on material costs and availability trends.
• Investigate raw material quality issues.
• Reject materials and manage RA process.
• Ensure efficient utilization of stock and inventory materials.
• Order stock film and all production/extraneous materials as needed.
