Job summary

Oshkosh Delivery, an Oshkosh company, is a Spring/Summer 2027 Purchasing Intern role within the Global Procurement and Supply Chain teams. The intern will support commodity managers, learn pricing decisions, and coordinate supplier communications, including RFQs and BOM updates.

The position requires pursuing a related bachelor's degree, willingness to relocate to Oshkosh, WI, and the ability to travel for the summer internship. GPA and multitasking skills are valued for success.

Qualifications

• Student working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Economics, Logistics, or related field.
• Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
• Willing to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, WI and work full-time hours for the duration of the summer internship.

Responsibilities

• Support commodity managers with negotiations, supplier selection, pricing, forecasts, and performance management, including quarterly scorecard reviews and corrective actions.
• Learn how component pricing connects to standard cost, EAC, and broader financial decisions.
• Take ownership of certain suppliers and actively manage their pricing with mentorship.
• Visit suppliers to understand their manufacturing processes, capabilities, capacity, and potential constraints.
• Work with tactical buyers to understand how purchased components flow into the manufacturing plant, including work in SAP.
• Help coordinate part-number changes, cut-ins, and Bill of Material (BOM) updates.
• Manage EDI, supplier-portal forecasts, and coordinated communications to suppliers regarding forecast changes, deadlines, and updates.
• Identify and implement AI and digital tools that can improve purchasing-team efficiency.
• Learn how purchasing participates in new-product development, from early concepts through sourcing and production.
• Administer RFQs by sending packages to suppliers, collecting quotations, and comparing pricing, lead times, and commercial terms.
• Maintain accurate pricing on purchase orders and component standard costs to align with finance and budgeting.
