Job summary

Barnes Aerospace is seeking a Purchasing Intern at our West Chester, OH site to support global buying activities and data-driven initiatives. You will collaborate with multiple functions to analyze PO metrics, spend, RFQs, and market indices while helping maintain supplier data and processes.

The role involves data collection, scorecard preparation for industry events, and executing internship projects with leadership presentations.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited college/university as rising junior/senior.
• Preferred majors include supply chain, IT, engineering, business or materials management.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Global Purchasing, Planning, IT, Legal & HR on assignments.
• Perform data analysis on PO Metrics, Spend, RFQs and market indices.
• Support ASL and supplier portal implementations.
• Maintain supply chain data integrity and standard work.
• Assist with supplier contract review, analysis and negotiation.
• Support data collection and creation of customer evaluations and scorecards for events like Farnborough.
• Complete internship projects and present findings to leadership.

Barnes Aerospace is an international group providing complex engineering solutions to some of the key names in the Aerospace and Defense market. Operating from sites close to our key customers in North America, Asia and Europe, the Barnes Aerospace group provides advanced technological solutions to the Aerospace and Defense industry, leveraging an in-depth knowledge of fabrications, machining and the global supply chain to support complex aero-engine component manufacture and repairs.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Intern at our West Chester, OH site.

Core Responsibilities:

• Work directly with Global Purchasing, Planning, IT, Legal & HR organizations on various assignments
• Complete required data analysis on PO Metrics, Spend, RFQs and market indices
• Support global Approved Supplier List (ASL) and supplier portal implementation
• Support and maintain the supply chain standard work, training and skills matrix
• Support supplier contract review, analysis and negotiation
• Maintain supply chain data and ensure data integrity
• Support the data collection, and creation of customer evaluations, including scorecards, for the Farnborough airshow
• Complete internship projects and present findings to leadership
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Ability to schedule and organize time and tasks effectively
• Ability to work in a challenging and schedule driven environment
• Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities
• Familiarity with intermediate (V-lookup/Pivot tables) and advanced (What-If, Power Query) Excel functions
• Familiarity with basic Power BI functions and ability to learn Articulate 360 software for standard work training creation
• Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprise, principles and practices

Education Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university as a rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree preferred in Integrated Supply Chain Management, IT, Engineering, Business or Materials Management
