Job summary

Barnes Aerospace is seeking a Procurement Manager for its Michigan Operations Divisions and the West Chester location.   • Five to ten years of related Supply Chain Management experience in an Engineer-to-order manufacturing, OEM, aerospace, or defense environment.
  • Progressive career development with increasing responsibilities, especially in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of production flow, inventory flow, and documentation procedures.
  • Strong business/financial acumen, ability to motivate and drive change at all levels.
  • Excellent growth leadership with global perspective and understanding of aerospace suppliers.
  • Ability to organize time effectively to complete tasks and plan meetings.
  • Excellent computer skills with MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the procurement organization for MI Operations and the West Chester site, coaching and escalating as needed.
  • Drive KPI performance metrics such as late release, push/pull/cancel, delinquency/OTD and costs/PPV.
  • Build supplier relationships and ensure OA/OTD and cost targets.
  • Drive sourcing strategy delivering competitive advantage; select, develop, and consolidate suppliers.
  • Lead global regional sourcing with accountability for buy and material deflation targets.
  • Develop strategies and negotiate to meet quality, fulfillment, and productivity needs.
  • Source and purchase machinery, equipment, tools, raw materials, packaging, parts, services.
  • Analyze data to determine feasibility and establish price objectives.
  • Coordinate with procurement, engineering, and quality to qualify new suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare bid packages and coach team on bids and negotiations.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Barnes Aerospace has a challenging and rewarding career opportunity for Procurement Manager overseeing its Michigan Operations Divisions and the West Chester location. The ideal candidate will partner with division leaders and will act as a subject matter expert in supply chain management. He/She will develop and manage the procurement function for goods and materials; identify cost saving opportunities, creating competitive environments, creatively negotiate/generate contracts and manage the delivery of optimal solutions.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead the procurement organization for MI Operations and the West Chester site, providing coaching, management, and escalation support to the team.
  • Driving KPI performance metrics - late release, push/pull/cancel, delinquency/OTD and costs/PPV.
  • Building supplier relationships and leading efforts to work with vendors to ensure OTD and cost needs for sites.
  • Driving the sourcing strategy that delivers a competitive advantage including implementation of the strategic supplier initiatives. This includes supplier selection, development, and supplier consolidation to ensure sourcing optimization and overall supplier performance.
  • Leading Global Purchase Family or Regional Commodity specific sourcing with full accountability for buy and meeting material deflation targets by setting strategic direction for global or regional sourcing professionals.
  • Developing strategies and driving negotiations to meet the quality, fulfillment, and productivity requirements of the business.
  • Sources and purchases machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services and/or supplies necessary for operation of an organization.
  • Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives.
  • Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes.
  • Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
  • Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects, or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, to identify or qualify new suppliers.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance and implement corrective action when required.
  • Preparing bid packages, and coaching supporting procurement team as needed on bids and negotiations.
  • Other related duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Five to ten years of related Supply Chain Management experience in an Engineer-to-order manufacturing, OEM, aerospace, or defense environment.
  • Demonstrated progressive career development with increasing responsibilities, with an emphasis in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of production flow, inventory flow, and documentation procedures.
  • Strong business/financial acumen, proficient in leading and setting direction for teams, including demonstrated ability to motivate, influence and drive change at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent growth leadership skills demonstrating clear global perspective and understand factors impacting Aerospace businesses and our suppliers.
  • Ability to organize time effectively to satisfactorily complete assigned tasks and functions. This includes planning of workflow and meetings.
  • Excellent computer skills with an emphasis in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate contracts, ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate Business or Technical discipline is required.
  • APICS/ISM/Supply Chain certification is a plus.
