SAVARD Personnel Group is hiring for a Purchasing / Estimator role in Hammond, LA. Key Requirements:

• The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a machine shop environment and understand the relationship between engineering drawings, material purchasing, machining processes, and project estimating.
• This person should be comfortable communicating with both customers and vendors and be able to independently review a drawing, identify the materials and processes required, obtain vendor pricing, and assist in developing an accurate project quote.
• Strong ability to communicate professionally with customers and vendors by phone and email.
• The candidate should be comfortable requesting pricing, discussing material availability, following up on orders, and resolving purchasing-related questions.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, drawings, and specifications and determine the appropriate type, grade, size, and quantity of material required for a job.
• Previous experience working in a machine shop or manufacturing environment is strongly preferred, particularly experience with CNC machining, welding and waterjet cutting.
• Familiarity with common metals and manufacturing materials, as well as an understanding of machining and fabrication processes, is highly desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to review drawings, specifications, vendor quotes, and customer requirements accurately.
