Job summary

Dallas Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is seeking a Purchasing Coordinator to manage hospital supplies, ensure departments are fully stocked, and oversee inbound/outbound materials.

You will coordinate delivery orders, monitor inventory, and work with CFO on month-end expenditures while negotiating favorable vendor terms.

The role requires a high school diploma, ability to lift 25 lbs, and healthcare supply chain experience is a plus; a bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a healthcare setting or medical supply environment preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage inventory, expiration tracking, and cost control.
  • Ability to coordinate inbound/outbound traffic and supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage expenses by maintaining an accurate log of expenditures for CFO review.
  • Establish scalable hospital-wide inventory maintenance including expiration dates and refill rates.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound traffic to maximize cost-efficiency.
  • Provide supply chain insights to executives to ensure solutions are met.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships to secure best rates.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.

Job description

The purchasing coordinator is responsible for ordering all hospital supplies and ensuring that all departments and units are fully stocked. Supervision of the inbound/outbound materials, oversight of the purchase and delivery of medical supplies, along with placement of delivery orders are included in the scope of the role.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Manage expenses by maintaining an accurate log of expenditures to be submitted to CFO for regular month-end financial review
  • Establish an inventory maintenance process that can be scaled and adapted hospital-wide. The inventory maintenance process should focus on expiration dates, supply count, rate of refill, and cost
  • Assist in coordinating all inbound and outbound traffic to maximize cost-effectiveness
  • Provide expert insight on supply chain solutions to C-Suite Executives and Department Heads to ensure supply solutions are met and maintained
  • Develop and maintain client relationships by providing best-in-service customer care
  • Leverage vendor relations to negotiate and maintain best rates consistent with company policy and procedure
  • Observe and adhere to company policies and procedures
Requirements
  • Ability to meet needs in a high-speed healthcare setting
  • Ability to lift and or move (minimum of 25 lbs.) materials using proper body mechanics
  • Ability to support job function by way of standing, sitting, or lifting for prolonged periods of time (the employee may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or lift)
  • High School diploma or equivalency.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 1 year healthcare experience
  • 2 years of experience in supply chain
  • Excellent organization, cross-collaborative communication, and planning skills
