Job summary

KLN Family Brands in Perham, MN, is hiring a Purchasing Assistant at the Tuffy's Pet Foods facility. The role supports the purchasing manager with purchasing and maintaining inventory for ingredients, materials or packaging.

The person will meet quality and company specifications. Responsibilities include reviewing demand, placing orders, coordinating logistics, tracking shipments, collaborating with production, resolving discrepancies with accounting, and maintaining supplier data.

Responsibilities

• Review and track demand for potential shortages or delays of assigned materials.
• Place purchase orders and maintain criteria of all assigned materials.
• Coordinate load sizes and determine logistics.
• Assign and track logistics, including follow up as needed.
• Collaborate with production on timing or shortages.
• Resolve receiving discrepancies with Accounting/Production.
• Coordinate intercompany sales orders.
• Set up new inventory parts for materials (SPP, UPCs, etc.).
• Request supplier approvals via the SAT for new materials.
• Update material costs and supplier pricing on purchases.
• Coordinate Nor-Am transfer loads for ingredients and reconcile inventory monthly.
