POSITION SUMMARY
The Purchasing and Production Manager will be responsible for supporting, defining, and executing the supply chain and production strategy for New Product Introduction (NPI) orders. This role requires effective supplier relationship management and ownership of production execution for all products in the designated product categories. The manager will collaborate with internal partners and manufacturers to ensure on-time and quality product delivery, including turnkey and non-turnkey SKUs. The role requires deep understanding of production process for formulated products and primary components. The ability to assess financial risks related to supply and production decisions is a must. This involves monitoring, tracking, and resolving issues to support replenishment of core SKUs, sampling programs, and assigned categories.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Vendor Management: Take full ownership as the primary point of contact for vendors, proactively fostering and nurturing strong, collaborative relationships. Lead operational efforts to ensure the seamless and successful delivery of products, from initial order to final shipment.
- Production and Manufacturing: Lead calls with manufacturers, overseeing and managing the progress of Newness Launch programs. Ensure the timely and efficient shipment and delivery of both components and finished goods, consistently meeting production deadlines.
- Project Management: Drive and own the execution of critical project deliverables, while identifying and resolving issues proactively. Leverage supply planning data to anticipate and mitigate delivery risks, and ensure clear communication of supply challenges and risk mitigation strategies during weekly update meetings.
- Risk Management: Responsible for identifying, escalating, and addressing critical supply chain risks and constraints. Provide timely input on risk-buy decisions and assess potential financial impacts. Hold suppliers accountable to their commitments, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Purchase Order Management: Own the tracking, updating, and management of all open purchase orders (POs), including post production samples and assigned categories. Ensure that purchase orders are accurately maintained in ERP systems, contributing to the overall efficiency of the production process.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the logistics team to ensure timely delivery to manufacturers and distribution centers, , recommend air and expedite needs. Partner with the Product Development (PD) and Quality teams to actively support innovation pipelines, ensuring that product launches are executed smoothly and on time.
- Supplier Performance & Quality Control: Take a proactive role in monitoring and assessing supplier performance. Lead the Business Review data collection process, working with PD and Quality teams to resolve product issues, facilitate financial recoupment if necessary, and uphold high product quality standards.
- Reporting & Analysis: Own the development and maintenance of reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs). Use data-driven insights to identify trends and provide strategic recommendations to drive informed decision-making.
- Compliance: Ensure suppliers adherence to company policies, industry regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and safety standards, maintaining the highest levels of compliance across all functions.
- Financial Accountability: able to make and drive cost-effective and cost-conscious timely decisions that positively impact company performance.
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of production, production planning and/or purchasing experience, ideally within a fast-paced retail environment (Cosmetics, Personal Care, or Health & Beauty preferred).
- Supplier & Manufacturer Relations: Proven experience in working with global suppliers and manufacturers for both turnkey and non-turnkey production processes.
- Strong background in project management and planning, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
- Well versed in BOM creation and management
- Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial implications tied to operational decisions and the ability to assess financial risks related to supply chain delays
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Advanced level Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical abilities. Ability to analyze financial impacts and evaluate financial outcomes
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Technology & Tools: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with experience in delivering polished presentations.
- ERP Systems Experience: NetSuite Sourceday and Wrike experience is preferred

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Some domestic and international travel may be required.
