  • OR 2–4 years’ experience in the purchasing field as a Buyer, Purchasing Specialist, or Purchasing Agent (or closely related experience) with BA/BS degree in transportation/logistics, business, or other relevant degree.
  • 2+ years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with advanced ERP or MRP systems and IMAG.
  • Knowledge of supplier relationships, contract negotiations, JIT/demand flow philosophies, and legal issues involved with purchasing.
  • Familiar with ISO 9001 QA System or similar.
  • Ability to solve basic problems, following standard work and established procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPP or CSCP) are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supplier management: develop and maintain relationships with suppliers for timely delivery and quality.
  • PO processing and maintenance: create and manage purchase orders.
  • Inventory management: monitor supplier order attributes and inventory levels to prevent stockouts.
  • Cost optimization: negotiate prices, MOQs and PO lead times to save costs while maintaining quality.
  • Assist in analyzing costs to optimize total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Documentation: maintain accurate buyer standard work and documentation.
  • Mentorship/supervision: support Purchasing Agent I and guide junior staff.
  • Supply chain risk management: identify risks and develop mitigation strategies or alternate suppliers.
  • Cost analysis and savings identification; daily management and visual management of metrics.

Job description

Essential Job Duties Supplier Management: Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery and quality of goods. Purchase Order Processing and Maintenance: Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. Inventory Management: Monitor supplier order attributes and inventory levels to anticipate needs and prevent stockouts or overstock situations. Cost Optimization: Negotiate prices, MOQs and PO lead time with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality standards. Assists in analyzing costs to optimize the total cost of ownership (TCO). Communication: Effectively communicates with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure a clear understanding and collaboration. Documentation: Develop, maintain and improve effective documentation and accurate systems for buyer standard work Mentorship/Supervision: Supports and mentors Purchasing Agent I, including first path of escalations for critical shortages, past due orders and supplier quality. May provide training and guidance to junior purchasing staff or clerical support. Supply Chain Risk Management: Proactively identify potential supply chain risks (e.g., obsolete parts, long lead times) and develop mitigation strategies or alternative supplier sources. Cost Analysis and Savings Identification: Conduct detailed cost analysis, establish benchmarks for improvement, and Daily Management/Visual Management: track and report key purchasing metrics and cost savings initiatives.

Minimum Requirements: 3-5 years of experience in the purchasing field as a Buyer, Purchasing Specialist or Purchasing Agent (or closely related experience) and a two-year college or technical degree required. OR 2-4 years’ experience in the purchasing field as a Buyer, Purchasing Specialist, or Purchasing Agent (or closely related experience) with BA/BS degree in transportation/logistics, business, or other relevant degree. 2+ years in a manufacturing environment Experience with advanced Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and IMAG. Knowledge of supplier relationships, contract negotiations, JIT/demand flow philosophies, and legal issues involved with purchasing required. Familiar with ISO 9001 QA System or similar Ability to solve basic problems, following standard work and established procedures Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong internal and external relationships. Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) credential from the American Purchasing Society or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) from APICS) are preferred.

US ONLY: The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The compensation range for this role is $74,520 - $86,000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
