Job summary

Shenandoah Medical Center in Shenandoah, IA, is seeking an Inventory Clerk to support purchasing and supply management. You will evaluate sales records, check inventory levels for equipment and supplies, assist in taking inventory, and coordinate ordering of routine and non-routine supplies.

You will review market variations affecting supply costs, evaluate suppliers by quality, price and availability, and act as a contact for problem solving between SMC and vendors.

Job description

1. Evaluates sales records, check inventory levels for equipment and supplies

• Assists in taking inventory.
• Checks for outdated supplies, assisting the inventory clerk.
• Coordinates ordering of routine and non-routine supplies from departmental requisitions.
• Works to ensure adequate inventory on hand for interdepartmental orders.

2. Reviews variations in the market that may impact the supply or cost of supplies and identifies suppliers that may provide supplies at a low cost for the hospital and its entities.

• Evaluates suppliers as to quality, price, and availability.
• Acts as a contact for problem solving between SMC and vendors.
• Assists with monitoring price competitiveness analysis, performing purchase analysis.
• Reviews resources with the manager as well as independent vendors.
• Delivers superior customer service to support the goals and objectives of Shenandoah Medical Center.

3. Receive and store materials, supplies and equipment.

• Assists in unpacking shipments received, inspecting for damages or defects
• Assists in verifying accuracy of shipments and moves to appropriate storage area assuring orders are closed out when appropriate.
• Assists in filling supply requisitions from stock and deliver to department.
• Prepares requisitions and assists with various purchasing functions as needed.

4. Helps maintain organization and cleanliness with the storeroom.

• Keeping storeroom clean
• Organize material on shelves and verifying inventory counts.
• Restock shelves from available overstock locations
• Organize product as deliveries arrive before they are received.

5. Performs other duties as assigned.
