Job summary

Citadel in New York is seeking a diligent Purchaser for its care center. You will stock supplies, fulfill nursing requisitions, track inventory, and ensure emergency stock is maintained while following procurement policies.

The role requires central supply experience, strong organizational skills, and effective communication to coordinate purchases, invoices, and supplier returns in a health-care setting.

Qualifications

  • Must have prior Central Supply experience.
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills and great problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding budgeting processes, awareness of profit & loss concepts.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills and an ability to prioritize.

Responsibilities

  • Check supply areas daily and stocks with required items.
  • Fill requisitions from the nursing department for routine supplies and equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure facility has adequate emergency supplies.
  • Maintain supply and storage rooms in an organized, clean and safe condition in compliance with applicable local, state or federal regulations.
  • Ensure inventory is updated as required, when receiving/issuing supplies and equipment. Rotates supplies to avoid loss of expired items.
  • Ensure all purchase orders are properly prepared, signed and submitted as required in procurement policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate claims on damaged merchandise, errors in shipment, etc. and returns to the vendor as required.
  • Follow the process to ensure supplies are tracked and charged appropriately.
  • Checks invoices, purchase orders, packing slips, etc., against incoming merchandise.
  • Ensures defective equipment is identified for maintenance repair as required in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Cleans and checks equipment as directed/necessary.
  • Provides clerical support to the department.

OVERVIEW:

Purchaser is responsible for providing supplies and equipment in an efficient manner, in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as directed, to ensure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Check supply areas daily and stocks with required items.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have prior Central Supply experience
  • Minimum a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills and great problem-solving skills

  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills and an ability to prioritize
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the care center
  • Incumbents may be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment
  • May experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric, and deceased patients
