Job summary

Hastings Public Schools is seeking a paraeducator to support a middle school student with special needs during tennis activities. The role focuses on behavior reinforcement, daily living skills, and social-emotional support during practices and matches.

Approximately two hours per day, Monday–Friday, from early September to early October 2026. The position is non-contracted with a starting pay of $19.40 per hour, with benefits described in the Paraprofessional Master Contract.

Qualifications

• Must meet one of the listed college credit or degree options.
• Ability to follow program direction provided by the coordinator.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with activities of daily living.
• Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead staff in providing behavior reinforcement and managing student’s needs during tennis practice and matches.
• Support interpersonal skills, daily living needs, and social-emotional needs for the student.
• Be flexible with schedules and supervise student during arrival/departure from practices and matches.

Position Purpose

PSA will assist in maximizing the learning experience of children with special needs during their participation with Middle School Tennis

Hours

• Approximately two hours per day, Monday through Friday, and Matches if student participates
• Position begins 9/2/2026 and ends 10/8/2026

Responsibilities & Duties

• Assist lead staff in providing behavior reinforcement and managing student's needs while at tennis practice and matches
• Assist and support interpersonal skills and activities, daily living needs and social/emotional needs for student
• Ability to be flexible with schedules.
• Supervising and assisting student during arrival/departure from tennis practices and matches

Qualifications

• Must meet one of the following requirements:
• at least two years of qualifying college credits (usually 60 credits in Minnesota) through an accredited institution of higher education, or;
• an associates or higher degree, with qualifying course work, or;
• a passing score on a valid and reliable formal assessment.
• Ability to follow program direction as provided by program coordinator.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds in weight and support students with activities of daily living
• Ability to demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance

Compensation/Benefits

• Starting Rate of Pay $19.40 per hour if non-contracted ( less than 11 hours per week )
