Job summary

Hastings Public Schools seeks a Pupil Support Assistant (PSA) for the HHS Track & Field program to help maximize learning for a student with special needs during practices and meets. The role is approximately two hours daily, with a start window from early September 2026 and potential participation on Saturdays as needed.

Responsibilities include reinforcing behavior, supporting daily living and social-emotional needs, and supervising the student during arrivals and departures.

Qualifications

• At least two years of qualifying college credits (usually 60 credits in Minnesota).
• An associate or higher degree with qualifying coursework.
• A passing score on a valid and reliable assessment.
• Ability to follow program direction as provided by program coordinador.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist daily living activities.
• Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.

Pupil Support Assistant (PSA): HHS Track & Field

Position Purpose

PSA will assist in maximizing the learning experience of children with special needs during their participation with High School Track & Field

Hours

• Approximately two hours per day, Monday through Saturday and meets if student participates
• Position begins 9/3/2026 - 10/21/2026

Responsibilities & Duties

• Assist lead staff in providing behavior reinforcement and managing student's needs while at Track &Field practices and events
• Assist and support interpersonal skills and activities, daily living needs and social/emotional needs for student
• Ability to be flexible with schedules.
• Supervising and assisting student during arrival/departure from Track &Field practices and events

Qualifications

• Must meet one of the following requirements:
• at least two years of qualifying college credits (usually 60 credits in Minnesota) through an accredited institution of higher education, or;
• an associates or higher degree, with qualifying course work, or;
• a passing score on a valid and reliable formal assessment.
• Ability to follow program direction as provided by program coordinador.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds in weight and support students with activities of daily living
• Ability to demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance

Compensation/Benefits

• Starting Rate of Pay $19.40 per hour if non-contracted ( less than 11 hours per week )
