Job summary

Qualifications

• Prior experience setting up and running punch presses.
• Ability to work with press tonnages from 5 to 100 tons.
• Interpret mechanical prints, GD&T, schematics, and tooling drawings.
• Familiarity with SPC and first article inspection.
• Basic measuring skills (micrometers, calipers).
• Strong attention to detail and teamwork.
• Lift and handle tooling and dies to a safe limit.
• Willingness to work 4×10 hour days per schedule.

Responsibilities

• Read job orders, blueprints, and work instructions to determine required press setup.
• Install and secure tooling, dies, punches, and fixtures on the press.
• Perform trials, adjust layouts, alignments, and clearances to meet tolerances.
• Monitor press performance (speed, stroke, scrap rate) during production.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs to tooling and presses.
• Diagnose issues such as misfeeds, burrs, jams, or defects.
• Collaborate with quality to verify first articles and in-process inspections.
• Maintain setup logs, tool change records, and production reports.
• Adhere to safety, housekeeping, and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Suggest tooling improvements and cost reductions.
