Job summary

Stage 3 Separation, LLC seeks a Pump Technician - II to advance pump maintenance, repair, and testing across our asset base. You will disassemble, inspect, and rebuild diverse pump types, perform preventive maintenance, and help evaluate equipment for reliable field deployment.

You will document work, leverage knowledge of pump technology, and collaborate with Field Operations and Maintenance to ensure all repairs meet performance standards and safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two-year technical diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
  • SCRUM Team Member certificate beneficial.
  • Forklift and overhead crane certifications preferred.
  • Reading engineering drawings and schematics is essential.

Responsibilities

JOB TITLE: Pump Technician - II

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Pump Technician - II (PT2) is a developing-level pump mechanic responsible for the daily assembly, inspection, repair, maintenance, testing, and rebuilding of Stage 3 Separation (S3S), pump assets. The PT2 will develop a strong working knowledge of various pump technologies, components, and applications and will assist in evaluating equipment to identify mechanical issues and determine appropriate repairs. This position is responsible for completing quality repairs, ensuring pumps meet operational and performance requirements, accurately documenting work performed, and completing testing and evaluations prior to equipment being released for field deployment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Shop Technician - II (ST2) responsibilities, plus:
  • Assemble, disassemble, inspect, repair, maintain, and rebuild various types of pumps and related equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on pump assets.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and assist in identifying the root cause of pump failures.
  • Inspect pumps and components for wear, damage, defects, or conditions that may affect performance.
  • Replace worn or damaged components, including seals, bearings, gaskets, impellers, shafts, and other pump parts as applicable.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and established repair standards when servicing equipment.
  • Perform pump testing and operational evaluations following repairs and rebuilds.
  • Verify pumps are functioning properly and meet required performance standards prior to shipment or field deployment.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, testing results, and other work performed.
  • Properly identify and communicate equipment requiring additional repairs, parts, or higher-level technical evaluation.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area, including proper storage of tools, parts, and equipment.
  • Safely operate shop equipment, hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and other equipment required to perform assigned duties.
  • Assist with inventory control and identification of pump parts and components.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain a safety-focused work environment and immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment damage, or incidents.
  • Work collaboratively with Pump Technicians, Field Operations, Maintenance, and other departments to support equipment readiness.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings and Schematics.
  • Ability to inspect and troubleshoot defective pumps and organize a plan to refurbish.
  • Ability to independently function to meet departmental requirements within a defined time frame.
  • Understand the working principles of centrifugal pump technologies.
  • Understand the working principles of positive displacement pump technologies.
  • Basic understanding of analog sensors (flow, pressure) and installation in piping.
  • Basic operation of a Digital Multi Meter.
  • Demonstrated ability to use calipers, micrometers, and gauges in both imperial and metric measurements.
  • Understanding of SCRUM, Jira software, and the Pump Tech Team’s roles and responsibilities.
  • Basic electrical knowledge (volts, amps, wire sizing, S3S wiring standards).
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting and evaluation.
  • A thorough understanding of solids control equipment and closed-loop systems is preferred.
  • Understanding of pipe connection methods, and best practices for assembly.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical problems.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Jira, Portal etc.)
  • Ability to utilize measuring devices: tape measure, caliper, thread gauge, etc.
  • Ability to identify the thread size and specification of an unknown fastener.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to operate equipment including Front end loaders, Forklifts, and overhead cranes.
  • Must be able to read and write in English fluently, (Spanish fluency is a plus).
  • Must have manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be mechanically inclined / adept, and familiar with hand tools.
  • Able to communicate effectively with others.
  • Able to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions.
  • Understanding of proper fastener installation, and torquing.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, LICENSES AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent GED.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • A two-year diploma or post-secondary technical credential in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control, Automation Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • 2+ years working in a maintenance and repair environment, required.
  • 1+ year working experience with turbo machinery.
  • Must be able to safely use hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment.
  • SCRUM Team Member certificate
  • Forklift Certified, preferred.
  • Overhead Crane Certified, preferred.
  • 2+ Years working in a maintenance and repair environment.
  • 1+ year experience working with turbo machinery.
  • Must be able to safely use hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings and Schematics.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on pump assets.
