Job summary

Sarasota County is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Operator (Trainee to Operator A/B/C) to monitor and operate the pump station at Pump Station #2 in Sarasota. You will collect data, perform chemical analyses, and manage routine and emergency operations to ensure safe, reliable water supply.

The role requires a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and a Florida driver’s license, with Trainee eligibility to obtain a state license within two years.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to obtain a Florida Water Treatment Plant Operator license within two years (Trainee).
• Valid Florida Driver’s License required at time of hire for Operator.

Responsibilities

• Collect, record, and interpret data for operation and maintenance records.
• Collect samples and perform chemical analyses.
• Operate pumps, motors, valves and other treatment plant equipment to keep within permit parameters.
• Respond to emergency operational requirements as needed.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
• Maintain housekeeping and grounds to ensure a safe site.
