Job description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A PUMP STATION MECHANIC!

The role of Pump Station Mechanic involves assisting the Pump Station Lead Mechanic in the maintenance, fabrication, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment related to wastewater pump stations.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Installing, overhauling, repairing, servicing, and maintaining equipment such as pumps, motors, gas and diesel engines, meters, gauges, compressors, blowers, valves, and backchecks.
  2. Revamping pump stations and maintaining 240/480 electrical system control panels.
  3. Maintaining well motors and A/C-D/C control systems.
  4. Using power tools and painting equipment as required.
  5. Checking and adjusting equipment, maintaining service records, and performing related work.
  6. Participating in safe confined space entry practices.
  7. Submitting requisitions for equipment and materials, reviewing work orders for priority, clarity, and completeness, and distributing and completing work orders (CMMS).

Qualifications include:

  1. Knowledge of methods and techniques used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical motors, pumps, and mechanical equipment.
  2. Ability to inspect and determine operating conditions and needed repairs.
  3. Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, or instructions.
  4. Proficiency with mechanic's tools and shop equipment.
  5. Knowledge of 240/480 A/C-D/C control systems.
  6. Ability to read for comprehension.
  7. Availability for overtime and on-call rotation, and possession of a telephone.
  8. Ability to interpret and utilize SCADA systems.
  9. Physical ability to lift up to 80 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing, and walking.
  10. Effective verbal, written, and visual communication skills.

Minimum requirements:

  1. High school graduation or equivalent.
  2. Valid Florida driver's license.
  3. Within 30 days of hire, obtain a Florida CDL Class "B" temporary permit; and within six months, a permanent license.
  4. Within 18 months of hire, obtain a Florida Wastewater "C" Certificate.
