Job summary

Gulf States Engineering is seeking a Service Technician to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, test, and maintain pumps, motors, and controls in a shop setting serving municipal and industrial customers.

The role requires mechanical/ electrical problem-solving skills, ability to read manuals, and documentation of service activities. Strong teamwork and safety adherence are essential for high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical, vocational, or mechanical training preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, or maintaining pumps, motors, controls, or related rotating equipment preferred.
• Working knowledge of centrifugal pumps, submersible pumps, pump systems, and associated controls preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and rebuild pumps, motors, controls, and related equipment in a shop environment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, equipment overhauls, and component replacement to restore equipment to manufacturer specifications.
• Disassemble, evaluate, clean, and reassemble pumps and associated mechanical components.
• Conduct operational testing and performance evaluations to verify equipment functionality and repair quality.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Prepare accurate documentation of inspections, repairs, testing results, parts used, and service recommendations.
• Provide technical support and recommendations to internal personnel and customers regarding equipment operation, maintenance, and repair options.
