Job summary

Hargrove Engineers + Constructors is seeking an engineering intern in Mobile, AL. You will assist with routine chemical/process engineering tasks, develop preliminary designs, calculations, and drawings under supervision, and learn to apply standard engineering practices on real projects.

The role favors current BS students in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering with strong GPA, MS Office proficiency, good communication, and familiarity with CAD and process calculations.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science degree program for Chemical or Biochemical Engineering at an accredited university is required.
• GPA: 2.7 or above
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Familiarity with chemical/process engineering calculations (material and energy balances, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, mass transfer, etc.) is beneficial for this position.
• Familiarity with chemical engineering simulation (Aspen Plus, PRO/II, ChemCad) and hydraulic analysis software (AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, SiNet) is beneficial for this position.
• Working knowledge of CAD software, either AutoCAD or Microstation (or both) is beneficial for this position.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine engineering tasks of less complex assignments under direct supervision.
• Familiarize with and utilize engineering design and drafting standards.
• Assist in producing detail design calculations, spreadsheets, reports, drawings, and sketches for various projects.
• Assist in developing conceptual process engineering designs and studies to determine efficient solutions.
• Assist in producing estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs.
• Assist engineers and designers to support project goals in terms of safety, cost, schedule, and quality.
