Job summary

International Paper in Selma, AL seeks an Area Manufacturing Excellence Leader - Pulp to lead safety, cost-reduction initiatives, and ME skill development across salaried and hourly teams. You will drive continuous improvement, coordinate with mill leadership, and guide college hires into ME roles.

The role requires 5+ years in paper manufacturing operations/maintenance/engineering, a B.S. in engineering, and ME belt certifications; Lean/Six Sigma is a plus.

• ME certification Yellow or Green belt.
• Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in operations, maintenance, and/or engineering in a paper manufacturing environment.
• IP ME certification Green or Black belt preferred; Lean/Six Sigma certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible leadership to deliver safety results.
• Identify and deliver cost savings through continuous improvement initiatives aligned with YOY cost reduction.
• Train salaried and hourly employees to develop ME skills.
• Develop college hires (REACH) into ME Engineers.
• Achieve ME certifications (White, Yellow, Green, Black, Master Black).
• Maintain relations with ME leaders and maintenance/operations leaders.
• Influence BU ops teams to adopt ME systems and processes for sustaining improvements.
• Support field outages, weekend duty, and cost reduction capex projects.
• Implement ME best practices from across the mill and company.
• Support 5S program and drive improvement projects and audits.
• Budgeting support for year-over-year savings.
