Job summary

Banner Health in Phoenix, AZ, seeks a Medical Assistant for our Pulmonology Clinic to support clinicians and care teams. You will room patients, record vital signs, and assist with procedures while updating electronic medical records promptly.

You will handle phone communications, prepare for tests, coordinate referrals and authorizations, and ensure rooms and supplies are ready. Strong computer skills and CMA/CCMA/RMA accreditation are required.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
Active Medical Assistant Certification is required (CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA).
BLS certification required.
Strong computer skills and ability to use medical software.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

Prepares patient for exam by taking and recording vital signs and chief complaint.
Assists with exams and minor procedures; performs phlebotomies, ear irrigation and EKGs as needed.
Coordinates and manages patient care: pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, scheduling.
Provides clerical support; maintains medical records and billing information.
Maintains clean exam rooms and following disinfection procedures.
Orders supplies and stocks patient care areas; handles medications as directed.
Develops effective communication with patients, families and staff.
