Job summary

The University of Florida seeks a Laboratory Technician I to support a pulmonary research program. The role focuses on exposing mice to research-grade cigarettes using a Teague whole-body exposure device under approved protocols.

You will perform daily lab tasks, record weights and exposure data, maintain equipment, manage supplies, and assist with genotyping and sample processing while adhering to IACUC and EH&S training requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher; or a HS diploma with two years related experience.
• Experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
• Ability to follow complex protocols and maintain accurate records.
• Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Expose mice to research-grade cigarettes using the Teague exposure device.
• Move mice between housing and exposure, observe and document smoke exposure levels.
• Record weekly weights and exposure data; maintain electronic logs.
• Plan and conduct animal experiments as directed; assist with genotyping when needed.
• Maintain lab equipment and inventory; manage waste disposal and notebook records.
