Job summary

Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking a Pulmonary Function Test Technician to perform tests and related duties in a fast-paced clinical setting on the Upper East Side in New York City.

The role requires an Associate's Degree and NBRC CRT CPFT certification, plus NYS Respiratory Therapist license and about two years of related experience. You will work under supervision with attention to accuracy and patient communication.

Qualifications

Position Summary

Under supervision, performs pulmonary function tests and related duties.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs pulmonary function tests in accordance with the American Thoracic Society (ATS) standards. Explains procedure to be performed to patient prior to test and answers any questions throughout test.
• Observes, measures and records readings on metering devices of analysis equipment and conveys findings of tests and analyses to physician for interpretation.
• May measure sweat chloride to test for cystic fibrosis, using computerized analyzer.
• Responsible for daily equipment calibration.

Education

• Associate's Degree

Experience

Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.

Approximately 2 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

Licenses and Certifications

• National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), with CPFT specialty credential.
• NYS Respiratory Therapist License.
