Job summary

University Hospitals Pain Management seeks a Patient Care Assistant to perform basic patient care tasks under the supervision of an RN, supporting the established care plan and handling data collection and billing as needed.

This role emphasizes compassionate interactions with patients and families, maintaining a safe environment, onboarding new team members, and strict adherence to PHI safeguards and department policies.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care tasks as delegated by the RN and assists, under the direction of the RN, in the implementation of the established plan of care.
• Compassionate in all interactions with patients, families, and peers.
• Follows established evidence-based prevention guidelines to promote positive patient outcomes.
• Provides a safe environment in patient rooms and on unit.
• Facilitates stocking and ordering of supplies for patient care.
• Assists with unit communication and facilitates unit operations.
• Acts as a key resource for onboarding and training new team members.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
• For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
