Job summary

Simon & Schuster is seeking a Publishing Assistant to provide administrative and publishing support to the Publisher’s Office at the Atria Books imprint in New York. The role involves handling calendars, meeting coordination, budgeting support, and preparing materials for seasonal launch and acquisitions meetings.

You will collaborate with editorial, marketing, publicity, sales, and rights teams to help manage title grids, bestseller reports, and marketplace updates, while contributing research

Qualifications

  • Prior internship or administrative experience; publishing, media, or related experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow projects through to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support, including calendar management, meeting coordination, expense reporting, and preparation of correspondence and materials.
  • Create agendas, take notes, and track action items for departmental and cross-functional meetings.
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of materials for seasonal launch meetings, sales conferences, acquisitions meetings, and other publishing presentations.
  • Maintain publishing schedules, title grids, bestseller reports, preorder updates, and other departmental tracking documents.
  • Compile and distribute weekly and seasonal reports, including bestseller lists, sales information, competitive title research, and marketplace updates.
  • Coordinate with editorial, marketing, publicity, sales, production, managing editorial, and subsidiary rights teams to support priority titles and publishing initiatives.
  • Help track departmental budgets, process invoices, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Conduct research related to authors, comparable titles, market trends, and potential publishing opportunities.
  • Respond to general inquiries and serve as a professional point of contact for authors, agents, and internal partners.
  • Provide additional administrative and project support as assigned.

Atria Books is seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic Publishing Assistant to provide administrative and publishing support to the Publisher’s Office.

Responsibilities:
