The Experiment is an independent publisher founded in 2008 and committed to publishing a wide range of nonfiction as well as select children’s storybooks with a teaching mission. We are a collegial, creative, book-loving, and hard‑working crew, with offices located in a 1907 landmark building in the heart of the Financial District in Manhattan.

We’ve developed a 550+ title‑strong list encompassing a wide range of practical and narrative nonfiction, including books on the sciences, nature, history, and current affairs; healthful eating; giftable, illustrated reference; pregnancy & parenting; lifestyle, health & wellness; self‑help, psychology, & relationships; and creativity (art, coloring & puzzle books).

Our books are sold and distributed by W. W. Norton & Company.

At a time when trade book publishing is dominated by a few large companies, we are excited to be operating at the sort of intimate scale that was once the norm; our books are no less far‑reaching, for it.

Diversity and Inclusion

We believe that including and representing diverse voices in all aspects of our business will benefit us all.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, or veteran status.
