Job summary

Hachette Book Group seeks an entrepreneurial, creative Executive Editor to expand our nonfiction program and help shape the evolution of our imprint. This editor will acquire 8 to 12 titles with strong promotional and sales potential each year, building a smart, commercial list that reflects the diversity of our potential audiences and the world we live in.

You will collaborate with the publishing team, edit manuscripts, advocate for authors, and manage title P&Ls while partnering with agents

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of editorial experience in book publishing, journalism, or relevant media.
  • Track record of acquiring, developing, and publishing profitable, high-quality titles.
  • Deep network of agents and authors.
  • Strong knowledge of the nonfiction market, production lifecycle, and sales and marketing strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and polished presentation style.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple high-profile and complex projects simultaneously.
  • Firm understanding of the business of trade book publishing, including negotiation and financial aspects.

The compensation range for this position is $100,00 - $130,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
